A Glance at Elizabeth Kamara, Wife of the APC Presidential Candidate Samura

Mrs Elizabeth Massah Samura Kamara, dubbed 'The Next First Lady of Sierra Leone' has family tree rooted in Pujehun, Bonthe, Bo and Freetown.


Reports say Elizabeth (nee Rogers) is an indigene of Pujehun her birth place. Her father was Joseph S Rogers, who fought in the Burma War. He was from Massamkpaka (Pujehun). Her mother was Amie Fofanah, from Blama Massaquoi. (Photo: Wife Elizabeth, in red, with her husband and family in London).

She attended several primary schools, as all members of her adorable extended family wanted their comely daughter to stay with them. She started school at the Church of England Primary School in Massam Kpaka, and then moved on to the Holy Rosary Primary School in Pujehun, where she stayed with her Grandma Eva Rogers, a devout Catholic.

She later went to St Joseph Primary School, Bonthe Sherbro where she stayed with her aunt, Elizabeth Sherman. Her Secondary School education was at the Queen of the Holy Rosary in Bo. She later attended the Nurses Training School which was at that time located at Murray Town in Freetown.

She lived with her uncles at the Magazine/Dove Cut area, Alhaji Kuda at 33 Guard Street and Pa Swarray Deen at Magazine Cut in Freetown. It was whilst staying there that she and Dr. Samura Kamara fell in love.

She worked at Cottage Hospital and Connaught Hospital in Freetown, and later at the Sierra Leone Ports Authority Clinic Cline Town, before proceeding to Britain.

They have four Children, Lucy, Samura Jnr, Gibril and Samira, and 7 grandchildren.
