Is the Public Falling Out of Love with Meghan Markle over Rumours of Tantrums?
By a press release (28/12/18)
Negative stories keep coming but Sky's Royal Correspondent says she doesn't believe Meghan Markle is really a Duchess in distress.
Meghan always appears happy but rumours she is not keep circulating. It's all anyone wants to talk to me about, Meghan and those rumours. Stories of tantrums over tiaras, reports she's been upsetting the royal staff and whether she's really fallen out with Kate. (Photo: Meghan and Kate, are they in good terms?).
Now her father says she's 'controlling' and has cut him out of her life completely. That's after a weekend of more newspaper reports that it's not all happy families at Kensington Palace, some of which I have been told are total fiction. But it has become part of a theme. After 2018 started with wall-to-wall excitement and largely positive stories about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, why has the tone of the coverage changed?
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry are spearheading a new campaign called Heads Together in partnership with inspiring charities, which aims to change the national conversation on mental wellbeing. The campaign has the huge privilege of being the 2017 Virgin Money London Marathon Charity of the Year. At Kensington Palace on April 21, 2016 in London, England. I have to say it has surprised me. After a hugely successful overseas tour and the news they're expecting a baby next spring, I didn't think there was the public appetite for negative stories about the Sussexes.
Chatting with crowds both here in the UK and during the tour I've found genuine affection and admiration for our new Duchess. I've spoken to women who see her as a role model, and many Meghan fans have sprung to her defence on social media.
But while many of us love a good fairy tale, we can't resist a story that appears to lift the lid on the private lives of the Royal Family. Under the protection of anonymity some of those who are apparently close to Harry and Meghan have been happy to spill the beans.
Do they feel they are putting the record straight or is it down to jealousy? Whatever it is, their stories are selling papers. Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, attend a community picnic at Victoria Park in Dubbo. (Photo: Royal Family celebrating Christmas 2018).
Meghan and Harry looked happy and relaxed on their first tour. When Prince Harry and Meghan got married I think many of us had already decided where we thought this story would go: The Cambridges and the Sussexes all getting along like a house on fire.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and Prince Harry have always appeared very close, Meghan we hoped would turn this powerful trio into the "Fab Four". But does it sound plausible that Meghan and Kate aren't best friends? Yes.
They're very different personalities, their lives have been poles apart and they're both preparing for very specific royal roles. Have Meghan and Kate really fallen out?
But it is possible that she's maybe put a few noses out of joint as she gets to grips with a more restrictive and traditional way of life. Can I imagine that William and Harry have fallen out? Not entirely but Harry finally settling down was always going to change the dynamic between the two brothers.
I hope it means he stays out of my fridge, said William of Harry's engagement. I hope Harry 'stays out of my fridge', says Wills William joked that he hoped it would mean that Harry stopped raiding his fridge. (Photo: Prince Harry and Meghan).
There'll be no chance of that when the Duke and Duchess of Sussex move away to Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. The last time the four were seen out together - at the Armistice Service in November
The fact we haven't seen Harry and Meghan, Kate and William all out together since the formal setting of Remembrance weekend in November hasn't helped to quash any rumours of a rift.
A vacuum of no new photo opportunities or joint royal engagements leaves plenty of time to speculate about what we think is going on. More than 120,000 people have signed the petition - have you? I personally can't wait for 25 December at Sandringham. I'll be there as the Royal Family all head to church.
Thomas Markle Says he is being Ghosted by 'Controlling' Daughter Meghan
The retired Hollywood lighting director makes an appeal to get in contact with his daughter, the Duchess of Sussex. Thomas Markle has said he is being "shunned and ghosted" by his daughter Meghan during a TV interview. (Photo: Dad Thomas Markle with daughter Meghan, is there any problem in their relationship?).
The 74-year-old told ITV's Good Morning Britain he was being blanked by the Duchess of Sussex. He said he has been texting her every day but she will not return any of his messages.
And he revealed he hoped Queen Elizabeth would step in to end his estrangement from his daughter. "I am disappointed by it," he said. "I'm not sure why it's happening... I have been trying to reach out for several weeks, every day I try to text her, but haven't received anything back."

Speaking of the Queen's stepping in, he said: "I would appreciate anything she can do and I would think that she would want to resolve the family problems. "All families, royal or otherwise, are the same and should be together at the holidays."
The retired Hollywood lighting director dismissed Piers Morgan's suggestion that his daughter was rude following media reports of a rift between her and Kate, but admitted she was "controlling".
He said: "I don't believe them [the reports] I think they're gossip - Meghan has never been rude to anyone she learned to respect everyone. She's always been a very controlling person and that's part of her nature but she's never been rude. The ghosting I don't completely understand - shes always been in charge, that's her nature, but not been rude." (Photo: Meghan and mother Doria are very close).
Is the public falling out of love with Meghan over rumours of tantrums? "She was raised on Hollywood stages and learned to respect the crew. She learned to respect everyone - I just can't see her being rude to anybody. It's not her."
Markle said he was hopeful that his daughter would get in touch with him after not speaking to the press for six months. "I'm hopeful that something will be resolved and we'll be talking. This can't continue forever."
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex leave St George's Chapel after their wedding ceremony. The father-of-three, who is not in touch with Meghan's mother Doria Ragland, did not attend his daughter's wedding to Prince Harry in May as he was recovering from heart surgery.
He became the subject of controversy after it was revealed that he had staged photographs with the paparazzi in return for money a few days prior to the wedding.
During Monday's interview, Markle said he had "apologised 100 times for that". He added: "That's not worthy of being shunned or ghosted - that's ridiculous". But he said he thinks Meghan, who is pregnant, will make a "great mum".
"There has to be a place for me, I'm her father and will be the grandfather of her children." More than 120,000 people have signed the petition - have you?
Markle defended his daughter's behaviour, claiming she has "been through quite a lot adjusting to what she's doing" as a new member of the royal family. Kensington Palace did not immediately comment on the interview.
