Sierra Leone FA President Elected Executive Member of African Football

By Kemoh Sesay (21/03/17)

The President of the Sierra Leone Football Association has been elected as executive member of the Confederation of African Football.

Isha Johansen, the SLFA boss is reported to bag 35 votes while Lydia Sekera pulled 12 votes. Isha Johansen (pictured) thus made history by becoming the first Sierra Leonean to be elected as CAF Executive Committee Member.

It is recalled that she declared her intention to aspire for that position during the International Women's Day. She said after her victory: "When I come into CAF Executive Committee, I will embrace the said CHANGE values, doing all I can, first to promote continental football that I am proud to be part of, also further enhance the interest and importance of women in our football."

She noted her optimism and gave credit to all the pioneers of the game who have done well over the years and promised that there are lots more that can come from CAF.

"I want to bring my thoughts and ideas to bear on how to consolidate the good that the 60-year old CAF has brought to Africa and World football," Isha concluded.
