Onion Farm in Madina Changes Peoples' Lives in Kafu Bullom Lungi

A master farmer who owns an onion farm in Madina, Lungi has expressed the positive impacts onion products are having on the villagers.

Subsistence farmer Osman Sheik Sillah said: "Proceeds from the harvested onions help us pay school fees for our children, feed our families and also build us houses." He noted that inputs like fertilizers, seedlings etc. have played a major role in the production. (Pictured: Monty Jones, Sierra Leone Agriculture Minister).

The Ministry of Agriculture slogan 'Ebola Don Go, Leh we Make Salone Grow' is reported to supports the creation of 10,000 jobs across key agricultural value chains.  

Reports say emphasis is laid on increasing agricultural production and productivity of targeted crops and livestock and enhancing commercial agricultural development. 

This is reportedly a priority initiative under the Private Sector Development Pillar of President Ernest Koroma's Recovery Priorities.
