By Jon Holmes (23/12/18)
Latest reports have noted that the the Director of Prisons for the notorious Pademba Road Prisons in Freetown is to retire within three months.
The Director of Prison Mr. Sanpha Bilo Kamara, confirming this report recently in Freetown, has reportedly worked at the Pademba Road Prisons for over 35 years. (Photo: Prison Director Sanpha Bilo Kamara).
He noted that he would retire in March next year so as to give the hot seat to a younger civil servant as the New Direction of the SLPP government of President Julius Maada Bio takes centre stage.
Director Bilo Kamara added that he is very proud to stick by his word to go in to retirement as planned unlike other civil servants who continue to back date their ages just to avoid retiring. (Photo: Emaciated and under-fed prisoners at Pademba Road Prisons in Freetown).
He expressed gratitude to all the gallant men and women of the institution, for their support over the years. And called on all the prison officers to work in peace and harmony.
What is vitually unclear is why Director Bilo Kamara decided to retire now. Was he pushed to early retirement by the higher authorities? Do ya una help me bid the Director farewell in advance.
Many observers are praying and wishing that the next Prison Chief must look in to the affairs of the prisoners as the basics of human life i.e. cleaning drinking water, regular food availability, medical facilities etc. continue to be non-existent in Sierra Leone prisons for donkey years.
