By Maddieu AAT Kabbah (10/02/17)
CAF Champions League starts on Saturday February 11 as Sierra Leone's FC Johansen face Moroccan side FUS Rabat in Freetown.
FC Johansen manager John Keister has plotted a master plan to overcome their north African opposition by neutralising their superiority in aerial balls. (Pictured: The Sierra Leone Football Association SLFA president Isha Johansen, who also owns the FC Johansen).
Manager Keister has watched few of RUS Rabat video footage and have identified their strengths and weaknesses and is very optimistic that his team will go through after undergoing the right training.
"They are very strong, so our defenders also need to match them in the air and also be a bit physical. Also we will resort to ground balls and at times use long balls to catch them pants down," John Keister noted.
Sierra Leone football fans will witness the first football club competition after a long time in the country as the club champions of Sierra Leone FC Johansen take on a cracking Moroccan side on Saturday at the National Stadium in Freetown.
Also, the Sierra Leone Sports Minister Ahmed Khanou together with his Deputy Ishmeal Al-Sankoh are wishing FC Johansen the best of luck as it begins its 2017 Africa Champions league.
The young Johansen side have the home advantage in the first league leg preliminary round of the CAF Champions league but nowadays there is very little advantage the home team can get if the opponent is a top class team.
However, Minister Khanou has backed FC Johansen to go all out in the competition and should serve as fitting ambassadors and urged them to bring victory for the people of Sierra Leone.
"We wish you well and hope you live up to the expectations of all Sierra Leoneans as you venture in to the CAF tournament this weekend. Remember that the whole nation is behind you in spirit," Sports Minster Khanou assured.
The return leg will be played in a fortnight in Morocco. Good Luck FC Johansen.
