Sierra Leone Politician Accused of Corruption by SLPP Gets a Mining Job in Namibia!

By a press release (09/07/18)

Sierra Leone APC politician accused of corruption by the SLPP govt has been appointed to takeover a mining company in Zambia.

Reports say John Bonoh Sisay, an APC politician and one who also contested for the APC flag bearership before the March 2018 elections, has been appointed the Chief Executive Officer of the Ongopolo Mining Limited company in Namibia. (Photo: John Sisay posed with nurses in Sierra Leone).

Reports say Weatherly International Mining Group that oversees the Ongopolo Mining Limited company is also responsible for holding the mining licences for the Tschudi Mines and the Otjihase Project.

As CEO, Mr John Sisay will be a board member of the other company subsidiaries. The company remains in administration and its ordinary shares remain suspended from trading on AIM. Mr. Sisay has the responsibility now to revive the company from administration.

John Sisay is widely known to have succeeded in reviving Sierra Rutile Ltd in Sierra Leone eventually placing it to trade on the AIM (a subsidiary of London Stock Exchange) and won CEO of the Year in 2013.

Mr. Sisay, a cousin of former Sierra Leone President Ernest Bai Koroma, was named in the World's 100 Most Innovative Thinkers for his contribution to mining in Africa in 2012.

It remains to be seen if the Zambian mining company would take in to consideration the corruption allegations levied against John Sisay before he takes over in Zambia.
