President Bio Adopts Tanzanian Template as Public Servants, Ministers Warned!

By Abu Shaw in London (12/04/18)

President Maada Bio is clearly inching towards the Tanzania way as shown in his first major policy as Sierra Leone's Head of State.

The Sierra Leone president first major policy statement from State House calling on public sector staff and government ministers to report to their various offices at 8.30am prompt is indicative of President Julius Maada Bio's determination to tell all stakeholders about the seriousness of his SLPP government. (Photo; President Bio with NEC Chairman N'fa Alie Conteh minutes after the election result was announced).

The State House press statement went further to disclose that President Bio and his Vice President Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh will be conducting routine and unannounced checks at Ministries, Departments and Agencies to ensure that this timetable is implemented to the letter.

Bio's template reminds us about Dr John Joseph Magufuli, the President of Tanzania. Since 2015, when President Magufuli (photo below) came to power, he turned the misfortunes of Tanzania in to one of the fastest growing economies in the world today.

President Magufuli's Achievements in the Last Two Years!

The major achievement was the restoration of discipline among public servants hence increase of productivity in service delivery. There was achievement also in the control of government expenditure and ensure value for money in all state funded projects.

Billions was saved after cleaning the public service of ghost workers and unqualified personnel. Increased control on the protection of natural resources such as minerals, by signing three mineral laws and changes which laid reforms in the extractive industry.

Also the cost cutting measures that saw the reduced foreign trips to government officials and cutting down the budget for unnecessary workshops was plausible.

The government has reduced the country's dependency on partners when it comes to implementing its development projects thus increasing of government revenue collections.

The initiation of the implementation of the Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) starting with internal sources and revival of the national carrier were remarkable and historic achievements.

President Magufuli was determined to walk the talk in tackling issues that affect the common citizens in the country in line with the pledges he made during election campaigns. Industrialisation drive marks the tenth achievement in the past two years.

So far in Tanzania, seventeen factories have been created and have attracted over 3,000 investors who are building factories all over the country.

And hopefully the new Sierra Leone President will emulate Magufuli, the best president in Africa today by far. Below is the statment from the SLPP government:
